You might be wondering where all the site images have gone.
All the images that are displayed at uniqueday.net are hosted at Amazon using their S3 service. This has always been amazingly reliable and our images are safely stored along with data from many of the World’s largest organizations.
Except for today. Amazon are experiencing some major system problems with the result that our data is not accessible. I’m assured that everything is safe, so if you came here looking for some images, please check back later.
I’m sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused. Here is the latest Amazon update:
Update – this is quite amazing, Amazon S3 has been down for nearly 6 hours. They are going to get some flack over this. A similar thing happened back in February as well and they claimed to have invested in much more redundancy in their systems to ensure it couldn’t re-occur.
I guess we take things like on-line storage for granted and expect them to just work. It’s only when they are suddenly not there that we realize the internet is really somewhat fragile.
Of course, while all this has been happening, Amazon’s shopping sites have been just fine.
